The on again, off again Treo 700p firmware update for Verizon Wireless customers has been removed from the Palm Support web site. It has also pulled down a recent software update for this carrier's versions of the Treo 700w/wx.

According to a statement from this company, it has

...taken down the Verizon Wireless Treo 700p and 700w/wx updaters as a result of increasing customer reports of network connectivity issues following the updates. We are currently investigating the issue and will re-post as soon as they become available.

Smartphones that affected by this problem display the message "Error 3000 - Data network is not available" when attempting to connect to the data network.

Palm reports that this problem does not affect the data stored on the Treo in any other way.

In Need of Servicing

Users whose Treo 700p or 700w/wx is experiencing this problem should take their device to a Verizon Wireless location for service or possible replacement.
