Last month, rumor indicated that the popular AT&T 8525 would soon be replaced by a version of the HTC Kaiser which would be called the 8925. However, a new report says this earlier information was only half right.
This carrier's next high-end Windows Mobile smartphone will be based on the Kaiser, but it will be called the AT&T Tilt, according to an unconfirmed report on CrunchGear.
This same source indicates that this device will debut on Monday September 3 -- three weeks from today.
Its price will supposedly be $500 with a two-year contract.
More About the HTC Kaiser/AT&T Shift
Assuming this rumor is correct, the AT&T Shift at first glance, look a great deal like the 8525. It will have a tablet shape with a QWERTY keyboard hidden below the 2.8-inch, QVGA screen.

But unlike its predecessor, when the screen is slid aside to expose the keyboard, it will flip up at an angle, making the device look something like a mini laptop.
Another advantage the Shift will have over its predecessor is an updated operating system: Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
It will use a 400 MHz processor, and have 128 MB of RAM and 256 MB of ROM, a percentage of which will be available to the user as internal storage. It will also include a microSD slot.
It will be a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE, as well as UMTS and HSDPA 3G networking. This Pocket PC will also sport Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0.
In addition, the AT&T Shift will have a 2.8 megapixel camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.
