There has not yet been an official announcement, but the successor to the Motorola Q is expected to debut on Wednesday from Verizon Wireless. This will include a number of improvements over the current model, including an updated operating system.
The base price for the Q9m will reportedly be $470, but that drops down to $350 with a two-year contract. In addition, Verizon will offer a $50 mail-in rebate.
An Overview of the Motorola Q9m
The updated version of Motorola's premier smartphone will run Windows Mobile 6 Standard, which is the version of this operating system for devices without touchscreens.

Pictures show that the upcoming model will generally resemble its predecessor, including a landscape-oriented QVGA screen and built-in keyboard. However, the exact shape has been changed a bit. And this shape will be different from the GSM version of this device.
Verizon will supposedly emphasize this model's support for its V-Cast service when marketing it.
Some who are considering upgrading to this new model will be disappointed to learn that it apparently won't offer EV-DO or Wi-Fi. The Q9m will include Bluetooth, though.
Update: Several days later, Verizon has launched this smartphone and it does offer EV-DO after all. More information is available in this article: Verizon Launches the Motorola Q music 9m.
It will also supposedly have a built-in 1.3 MP camera and a slot for miniSD cards.
Sprint is also expected to eventually begin offering this smartphone, though there is no word on when.
