Verizon Launches the Motorola Q music 9m

As expected, the successor to the Motorola Q has just been released by Verizon Wireless. This smartphone includes a number of improvements over the current model, including an updated operating system.

With a name like Motorola Q music 9m, it's no surprise that Verizon is emphasizing this model's support for its V Cast music service.

The base price for the Q9m is $470, but that drops down to $350 with a two-year contract. In addition, Verizon is offering a $100 discount for those who buy the device online, bringing the cost down to $250.

An Overview of the Motorola Q9m

The updated version of Motorola's premier smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard, which is the version of this operating system for devices without touchscreens.

It generally resembles its predecessor, including a landscape-oriented QVGA screen and built-in keyboard. However, the exact shape has been changed a bit. And this shape is different from the GSM version of this device, which will be called the Motorola Q9.

Verizon's version is 4.6 inches tall, 2.6 inches wide, and 0.5 inches thick. It weighs 4.76 ounces.

This CDMA phone offers EV-DO Rev. 0 and Bluetooth. It does not include Wi-Fi.

The Q9m has a 1170 mAh battery, and Verizon is promising up to 273 minutes of talk time or up to 212 hours of standby time.

In addition, this model has a built-in 1.3 MP camera and a slot for miniSD cards.

Sprint is also expected to eventually begin offering its own version this smartphone, though there is no word on when.
