HP Confirms iPAQ 210 Delay, But iPAQ 110 Is on Track

Earlier this week, there was strong evidence that HP had pushed the release of two traditional handhelds back until next year. A company spokesperson has confirmed that one model, the iPAQ 210, has been significantly delayed, but the other, the iPAQ 110, should be in stores very soon.

"A supply issues discovered in the development of the recently announced HP iPAQ 200 products will cause the availability to be later than we had hoped in some regions of the world," said Mike Hockey, Hewlett-Packard's Worldwide Public Relations Manager. "We’re working to deliver these products to the market as soon as we can address the supply issues with our vendors."

A note on HP's U.S. web site indicates that this handheld won't be available until 2008.

Not All Bad News

According to Hockey, there's no truth the the earlier report that the release of the iPAQ 110 has also been pushed back until next year.

Instead, he says that this model has begun shipping from its manufacturer in Asia, and should start arriving in stores soon.

More About These iPAQs

Both these traditional handhelds will run Windows Mobile 6 Classic on a 624 MHz processor, and have a tablet shape. They will include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The iPAQ 210 Enterprise Handheld will offer a 4-inch, VGA touchscreen and both SD and CompactFlash card slots.

The iPAQ 110 Classic Handheld.will have a slim design with a QVGA screen. It will have a single SD card slot.
