Palm Releases Significant Update for AT&T's Treo 680

Palm has released a system software update for AT&T's version of the Treo 680 that brings a number of enhancements to this smartphone, including official support for SDHC cards up to 4 GB in capacity.

Palm Treo 680Update 2.11 includes support for:

  • Microsoft's Push Email System 
  • Push to Talk (PTT)
  • SDHC (up to 4 GB SD cards)
  • Power Saving Enhancements
  • Instant Messaging -- AOL, Windows Live Messenger, or Yahoo!
  • Enhanced Ringtone support -- MP3, AAC, AAC+, MIDI, WAV, and AMR
  • Easier access to additional services -- TeleNav and MobiTV
  • AT&T Rebranding

This system software update can be downloaded now from Palm's web site.

Version for Unbranded/Unlocked Models Coming Soon

Palm says the unbranded/unlocked Treo 680 will get a similar software update in the near future, though it wasn't any more specific than that about timing and features. 

The company is offering to send registered users an email informing them when the update is available. To sign up for this, go to www.palm.com/680update.
