Sound effects
The music sound track is as professional and well designed as any game I have played. At first, I thought it was strange to have basically a house remix as the backdrop but as you play the game it becomes the perfect backdrop to the game play. The only drawback is that you will be humming it over and over again and the "Dance to the house" overlay oozes into your brain so that it becomes the sound track of any naps and dreams you have.
Graphics
I thought the graphics were good, not outstanding but appropriate for the genre of game. I found it difficult to determine what items you could climb and the left scroll margin was so short that it is difficult to see if you opponent was coming. I found myself recentering the character so I see if an arrow was coming or the other opposing character.
Control
My favorite PocketPC is the Dell AXIM X5 and I found the jump button being on the left of the joystick to be uncomfortable. Ramparts should have included an options dialog that would allow me to set which button to use for the different game actions. I found it difficult to time when exactly to jump and I kept hitting the opponents hat, which resulted in a kill and restart. This got a bit irritating especially after a really good run.
The help box needs to contain a simple summary of how to operate the game. The music and sound control sliders were a bit slow and didn't seem to work with a constant touch to the screen. I had to paw the control to move it.
The menu UI was simple, and worked without problems. I wish more games had designed a simple to use interface like Ramparts.
Installation issues
Installing the game was straightforward and I didn't come across any difficulties. On the first run of the game it did crash the device but after a soft reset the game worked perfectly. Although, I did notice that the first run of the game is always slower than successive runs.
I would definitely purchase this game at it's price point and a lot of the issues I encountered may have been changed in the final sale version of game.
Playback Environment

Clickgamer sells this game at a very reasonable price of $8.95. This is definitely a bargain in today's world of continually rising cost.Do you want to try a game that is enjoyable, challenging and entertaining? This could be the one for you.
Pros

It has good graphics
Great sound
Offers a descent challenge
Cons
Music is too repetitive
Instruction is too short
Bottom Line
Would I buy it? I sure would but I would anxiously await the next upgrade. [note: update has been released.]

We gave this review to Click Gamer to review before we posted it online. So what did they do? They created and released a 1.1 version within a day. That's what I call fast! Rest assured Click Gamer is listening to your concerns and will continue to make their games better.
The game now allows use of more buttons for jumping so that if you are uncomfortable with the default you can adjust it to your needs. However, the best feature update is that the character is centered perfectly so that you have enough time to see the opponents or arrows coming and jump over them. This made a huge difference in game play and their dedication to customer feedback is nothing short of amazing.
Now, if I could only get a pair of cleets to step on the bad guys.
Handango has Ramparts available for free trial or purchase for $8.95.
