Microsoft's Mobile and Embedded Developers Conference (MEDC) has been canceled. Instead, it will be merged into two other conferences for developers.

The company has sent an email to previous MEDC attendees telling what has formerly been its premier event for Windows Mobile and Windows CE -- previously scheduled for May of this year -- would not be held.
The stated reason for cancellation was Microsoft's belief that mobile development has become more mainstream, and therefore should be merged in with other embedded industry conferences and larger Microsoft events.
The email went on to promise that there will be Windows Embedded tracks at the Embedded Systems Conference and Tech-Ed, while Windows Mobile developers will find more at the Tech-Ed conference.
