Two companies have shown off Ultra Mobile PCs expected to be released later this year. Asus is one of the leaders in this device category, but Toshiba is apparently prepping its first UMPC.
These devices were being demonstrated at CES last week, and Brighthand's sister site TablePCReview.com was there to see them.
Asus R50A
Asus had a prototype of an upcoming UMPC to show off. However, not too much is known at this time about the R50A except for a few basic specifications:

In addition, Asus was touting the R50A as being "WiMax ready".
Although it isn't obvious in the pictures, this lightweight UMPC is comparable in size to a Sony Playstation Portable.
Asus has not committed to a release date for this model, nor is it willing to talk about pricing.
In a related note, Asus expects to release another updated version of its R1 UMPC later this year, but did not have this device on display at CES.

Even less is known about a concept model that Toshiba had on display at CES. This company didn't even reveal the name of this product, and it was kept behind glass.
Essentially all that is known about this UMPC is that it will apparently have a solid state hard drive and be released some time during the second quarter of this year.
Additional details will be available as the release of this UMPC gets closer.
