The company put out a teaser video a few weeks ago, and has now followed this up with some images and a few more details of this upcoming product.
The modu will be a tiny mobile phone that can be put into either a "modu jacket" -- which converts it into a standard mobile phone -- or a "modu mate" -- one of a variety of consumer electronics devices.
The video gives examples of several modu mates: a telephone dock that gives the user a much larger handset to talk on, a car hands-free kit, a laptop, and a GPS unit.
Smartphone or Featurephone?
The company is still withholding many of the details of this phone until the formal announcement.
Unknown at this point is whether the modu will be a simple featurephone, or if it will be more capable. The only small hint available comes from the teaser video, which shows that device with an icon of an envelope on its display (view image), which could indicate that the user has email. But it could just as easily indicate a new SMS message.
modu Ltd. says the full unveiling of its product and accessories will be at the Mobile World Congress next week. The device itself isn't expected to be available until near the end of this year.
