Developer Brings Google Maps My Location Service to Palm OS

Google's My Location feature has received a good amount of positive press for being a pseudo-GPS solution for mobile devices with Google Maps. However, Palm OS smartphones have been left out of being able to use this feature... until now. An enterprising developer has created an alternative usable on GSM Treos called MyLocation.

Both Google's My Location and the third-party alternative work the same way: they approximate a user's location based on the location of the cell tower the smartphone is connected to.  This is like GPS, though not as accurate. It can locate the user within approximately 1000 m on average.

Razix MyLocation is free, but comes with location based advertising. The ads can be removed with a donation of $10 or more.

It requires the latest version of Google Maps (ver: 1.2.0.9) and a compatable Palm OS Treo (600, 650 and 680).
