Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for Samsung BlackJack Now Available

A long-awaited operating system upgrade is has just been released for the Samsung BlackJack. This will bring this smartphone up the the latest version of Windows Mobile.

Samsung and AT&T promised this upgrade many months ago, but the wait was so long that many had begun to doubt it would ever be released. As it turns out, these doubts were unfounded.

And the owners of this smartphone should be very pleased to learn that their upgrade will come free of charge.

Today's release puts the BlackJack more on par with its successor, the BlackJack II, as both will now run Windows Mobile 6 Standard. However, the newer model also includes an internal GPS receiver, overseas 3G support, more internal memory, and a higher-resolution 2 megapixel camera.

The Windows Mobile 6 upgrade can be downloaded now from Samsung's web site.

What's Going to Change?

The most significant enhancement in Windows Mobile 6 Standard is the latest version of Office Mobile allows users to edit, not just view, Office files.

Also, this smartphone will get the ability to display HTML-formatted email.

In addition, Microsoft has fine tuned the look of the operating system.
