Bolstered by the success of its Q series, Motorola now has a slight slight lead in the world market for Windows Mobile smartphones without touchscreens.

This company is closely followed by Samsung and HTC in this product category, according to internal Microsoft data obtained by DigiTimes. All three companies have between 20% and 30% of the global market for Windows Mobile Standard devices.

HTC once lead this market, but recently has put much of its emphasis on higher-priced models running Windows Mobile Professional.

What About Touchscreens?

The situation is very different when it comes Windows Mobile smartphones that do include touchscreens. HTC dominates the global market in this area, accounting for nearly 50% of sales.

In second place is Palm, Inc. with just over 10% of the world market for Windows Mobile Professional devices.  Samsung and Asus are in the third and fourth places.
