Apple May Be Getting Ready To Drop the iPhone's and iPod touch's Price

Apple will reportedly lower the cost of both the iPhone and iPod touch in the near future. The price of both models will supposedly decrease by $100.

If this report is correct, this move will drop the cost of the new 16 GB iPhone to $400, while the 8 GB version will be $300.

The new iPod touch with 32 GB of storage will sell for $400, and the 16 GB model will be $300. The 8 GB iPod touch will supposedly be dropped from Apple's lineup.

These price cuts are reportedly happening to clear out inventory and make room for the new version of the iPhone with 3G.

This Month? Already?

This report comes from 9to5Mac, who says these price reductions could come as soon as the end of this month, at the same time Apple is expected to unveil its new system for allowing users to install native third-party applications on their smartphones and handhelds.

If it doesn't happen then, it will supposedly take place before mid-April.

If this report is true, this move will certainly irritate those who have already purchased the new 16 GB iPhone and 32 GB iPod touch, as these models only debuted in early February. A price drop for these devices just a couple of weeks after they came on the market will remnd people of Apple's controversial move of cutting the cost of the iPhone two months after it launched.
