Opera Switches to Google for Default Mobile Search
In a move showing that some of the mobile web battles are being fought also on the search screen, Opera Software has announced that future versions of itgs Opera Mini and Opera Mobile web browsers will feature Google as the default search engine instead of the current default, Yahoo.
Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are two very successful entrants in what has become a hotly contested field - mobile browsing. Opera Mini, recently reported to be installed on over 100 million handsets, uses a proxy server solution to deliever web pages formatted for any mobile device. The client application is based on Java and can be installed by nearly any mobile phone. Opera Mobile is a native browser solution for Windows Mobile and Symbian smarpthones. At the past Mobile Web Congress event in Barcelona, Opera Mobile version 9.5 was demoed and reported to be coming soon.
Aspyplayer Native last.fm Client for Symbian S60 Released
last.fm has quickly become a popular alternative to iTunes for many users due to the ability to stream, share, and scrobble music across several web-enabled platforms. Symbian S60 users can now get in on scrobbling with the Aspyplayer last.fm client. This native application creates a history of tracks played and can send to Audioscobbler on last.fm.
The current version of Aspyplayer (1.4.2) is considered to be a beta release. Users wishing to install Aspyplayer must be sure to set their devices to accept non-signed applications.
