The bad news is that Apple has no plans to add support for Flash to its smartphone or handheld. Jobs stated reason is that this Web-based multimedia system wouldn't perform well on the iPhone or iPod touch.
This means that users of these devices won't be able to easily view the many web sites based on Flash, and will have to continue to use a special version of YouTube designed for phones without Flash support.
Jobs also made a reference to there being plenty of third-party applications available for the iPhone this summer, implying that the system for distributing software is still several months away.
Good News About iPhone Sales
The good news from yesterday's shareholders meeting is that Jobs said his company is on track to sell 10 million iPhones this year.
To help Apple reach this goal, Tim Cook, Apple Chief Operating Officer, said that the iPhone will be released in Asia this year, though he declined to list any specific countries or telecoms.
