As it promised last fall, Sprint and HTC have released a system software update for the HTC Mogul with new features.

Speed Increase
One of the most significant changes is an upgrade to EV-DO Rev. A. The Mogul can already connect to Sprint's EV-DO network for high-speed wireless access, but Rev. A is faster than the version of EV-DO currently offered by this model.
Sprint says Mogul users can expect to have average download speeds increase from 400-700 Kbps to 600 Kbps-1.4 Mbps and average upload speeds increase from 50-70 kbps to 350-500 Kbps.
Other Changes
In addition, this upgrade fixes an odd limitation in this smartphone. It ships with GPS hardware, but until now there has been no software driver to allow users to take advantage of it. Installing the new system update changes this, and the Mogul will then offer full GPS capabilities.
In addition, it adds a Task Manager to the Today screen for easier access and management of running programs, and it improves Bluetooth performance including when using the device as a modem and with wireless stereo headsets.
Available Now
The system software update can be installed now from HTC's web site.
Like all ROM updates, this will completely erase everything on the smartphone, so doing a data backup ahead of time is critical.
This is not an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1, which has yet to be released or even officially announced.
