Nokia has given the world a sneak peek at its next major product, a version of the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet with the 4G wireless networking standard WiMax.
This device now appears on the Nokia Europe website, but this only shows a single image and a link to a Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition subpage that is not yet active.
Curiously, the one picture of this device does not show the sliding keyboard that is such a major part of the non-WiMax version. It may be simply that is closed in the picture, but it's also possible that adding the WiMax radio to this device did not leave enough room for a keyboard.
At this point, it seems virtually certain that an announcement of the N810 with WiMax is imminent, most likely at the CTIA tradeshow next week.
About the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet
The Nokia N810 Internet Tablet is the third generation of the Maemo Linux tablet devices by Nokia. The N810 features an 800-by-480-pixel touchscreen, internal 2 GB of Flash memory, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a variant of the Firefox web browser called microB.
Nokia has been upfront about its plans to release an Internet Tablet implementing the upcoming Sprint-Clearwire WiMax wireless standard, but has always declined to give any details on this device... until now.
