Yesterday, Microsoft took the wraps off Windows Mobile 6.1, the latest version of its operating system for smartphones and handhelds. This includes a significant upgrade for Internet Explorer Mobile.
Among the changes are a new and improved browser engine based on the desktop version IE6, and a "zoom out" feature for looking at an overview of web pages.
The new version of Internet Explorer isn't even in customers' hands yet, and Microsoft is already looking ahead to the next one, which will add support for embedded Flash video.
Microsoft is currently demonstrating both versions at the CTIA tradeshow in Las Vegas, as this video shows:

The first update to Internet Explorer Mobile is included in Windows Mobile 6.1. Devices running this new operating system are expected to be released soon, and upgrades for current smartphones are also on the way.
Microsoft plans to release the next IE Mobile update later this year.
