Rumors on the next version of the iPhone have been coming thick and fast in the last week or so. The most recent of these is the first to say much about what this upcoming smartphone will look like.
iPodObserver claims to have an image of the highly-anticipated iPhone 3G. Unfortunately, this doesn't show the front of the device, or the sides, but only the back.

Still, this picture might reveal an important detail on Apple's next smartphone. If real, it shows this device will have a significant change from the current one: a plastic casing, instead of the metal one currently used.
It's possible this change is being made to improve the wireless capabilities, including the GPS receiver this device is rumored to include.
The image also shows that at least one version of the iPhone 3G will have 8 GB of internal storage. Earlier this year, Apple introduced a 16 GB version of its smartphone.
Coming This Summer
According to reports -- numerous but unconfirmed -- a version of the iPhone with 3G will hit the market this summer.
The addition of 3G to the iPhone would allow it to connect to faster cellular-wireless networks, increasing the speed at which users can surf the Web and exchange email. The current version used the 2.5G standard EDGE.
