The HP iPAQ 910 Business Messenger has passed an important hurdle before it can be released in the United States: it has received FCC approval.
This smartphone was first announced last year, and was originally supposed to launch in late 2007, but its release was pushed back. According to an HP spokesperson, it is now scheduled to hit the market in N. America during the second quarter of this year, which has just begun.
It has been many months, but at one point an unconfirmed report indicated that AT&T will be offering this model.

The Same but Different
During the months since its announcement, the documents filed with the FCC show that HP has been tinkering with this device.
For one thing, it will look slightly different from the unit HP first showed off. It will still have a tablet shape, with a keyboard below a 2.5-inch, QVGA touchscreen, but its sides will be slightly angled, giving it more of a wedge shape.
There are internal changes, too. Those interested in this device should be happy to hear that it will run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, the recently-announced version of this operating system, but less pleased to hear that the processor has been downgraded from a 510 MHz to a 420 MHz one.
