Now Taking Pre-Orders
Celio had hoped to get the Redfly on the market by the end of last month, but it has missed that deadline.
Still, it is taking pre-orders for the device now, and companies interested in purchasing them can order evaluation units for demo or testing at getredfly.com. The price is $500 per unit.
An Overview of the Celio Redfly
The Redfly is a laptop-shaped device that greatly extends the capabilities of some smartphones. It can be used to give a Windows Mobile device a larger display, full keyboard, mouse, and USB ports.
When Celio's device is connected to a Windows Mobile phone, either by Bluetooth or USB, any application on the smartphone is shown on the Mobile Companion's 8-inch display without modification or synchronization. The user is then be able to interact with that application through a large keyboard and trackpad or mouse.
"The Redfly makes maximum use of the smartphone without requiring the set up and configuration or the backup and management of an ultralight mobile PC," said Kirt Bailey, Celio president and CEO. "Its influence on TCO and Data Loss Prevention in the enterprise is profound, and for corporate customers these are typically some the largest factors that are driving their purchase decisions for Redfly."
This accessory is 9 inches wide, 6 inches deep, and 1 inch thick. It weighs 1.9 pounds.
The Redfly is able to run for eight hours on a single charge, or some of its battery power can be transferred to the smartphone.
