Sprint Now Offering BlackBerry Curve 8330

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 has debuted on a second wireless carrier this week. Sprint has just begun offering this smartphone, close on the heels of Verizon's launch.

RIM has been working to shrink the size of its devices in recent years. The Curve line is its smallest offering that also includes a full QWERTY keyboard.

This latest model in this series has been created specifically for CDMA carriers like Sprint and Verizon, and supports their high-speed EV-DO data service.

The 8330 also includes a GPS receiver, allowing it to work with services like Sprint Navigation, BlackBerry Maps, and others.

Naturally, it supports the BlackBerry Push email service, but it isn't all business. It also has an audio and video player, and a 3.5mm headset jack.

More Physical Details

The Curve includes a QVGA display, 2 MPx camera, Bluetooth 2.0, and a microSDHC card slot. A 1 GB card is included.

It is 4.2 in. by 2.4 in. by 0.6 in. and 4.0 oz.

RIM says its 1150 mAh battery will provide up to 260 minutes of talk time or up to 264 hours of standby time.

Pricing and Availabilty

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 has a base price of $600, but that drops to $280 for those who sign a two-year service contract. In addition, those who sign up for a BlackBerry data plan or a Simply Everything plan qualify for a $100 mail-in rebate, bringing the cost for this device down to $180.
