Phillips has announced a new touchscreen-oriented Windows Mobile phone, with features and design similar to the upcoming 3G iPhone.
Dubbed the Phillips Xenium X-Connect, the device features a completely touchscreen-centered design, with a minimum of buttons and no keyboard.

Specifications on the X-Connect are very sketchy, with the only confirmed information being that the device will feature Windows Mobile 6, a 3-inch screen, Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA, a microSD slot, and GPS, but lacking Wi-Fi.
It has previously been rumored that the X-Connect will feature a 624 MHz XScale processor, and a slot for a standard AA or AAA size replaceable battery, usable when the internal rechargable battery is dead. However, this is unconfirmed.
No information is available about pricing and availability, or whether the device supports North American GSM and 3G bands.
Although this will be Phillips' first Windows Mobile smartphone, the company once made handhelds running an earlier mobile operating system from Microsoft.
