It has been known for some time that Dell intends to release a subnotebook, and now some new information on this upcoming device has surfaced.
Engadget was able to acquire some leaked details about Dell E, which will be a low-cost device with an 8.9-inch display targeted at emerging markets and people looking for a second computer for light web browsing tasks. It will compete against the Eee PC 900 and the HP 2133 Mini-Note.
It will supposedly be available with either Linux or Windows XP, and powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Diamondville processor.
There will be a range of configurations, including a "bare-bones" E Classic, an E Video with more RAM and internal storage, and an E Video+ with a webcam and Bluetooth. It appears that all configurations will have Wi-Fi, USB ports, and VGA Out.
This unconfirmed report says the base model will start at $300. It will supposedly debut in August.
The original Dell E will supposedly be followed up by a second generation slated for the second quarter of 2009.
