More Details on the Treo 800w Leak Out

By all reports, Palm, Inc. and Sprint are going to release the Treo 800w in two weeks, so it's not surprising that details on this device are leaking out fast, even if Palm itself has yet to say anything official about it.

The latest unconfirmed information is a few screenshots taken from this upcoming smartphone's datasheet that were leaked to Engadget by an unknown source. This is hardly the first time that details on the 800w have come out, but this is one of the most reliable and complete leaks yet, including a number of pictures of the hardware.

An (Unconfirmed) Overview of the Treo 800w

According to this report, Palm's next Treo will run Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro on a 333 MHz processor. This will bring new features, like a threaded SMS app and an improved version of Internet Explorer Mobile. It won't offer MMS, though.

This is expected to be one of the first devices running Microsoft's mobile operating system to have a 320-by-320-pixel touchscreen, and Palm's first smartphone with Wi-Fi, GPS, and a Micro-USB 2.0 connector.

Like all Treos, this model will reportedly have QWERTY keyboard. In addition, it will have a microSD/SDHC memory card slot, a 2 MPx camera, Bluetooth, and an infrared port.

It will supposedly be 4.4 inches by 2.3 inches by 0.7 inches (112mm x 58mm x 18.5mm), and a weigh of 4.9 ounces (140g).

According to previous unconfirmed reports, the Treo 800w will debut on July 13 from Sprint, and will support this carrier's 3G EV-DO network.

A very similar device, called the Treo 850, is expected to be released later this year for GSM carriers.
