It shouldn't surprise most people that users of the iPhone and other high-end smartphones are surfing the Web in large numbers. But what many people might not be aware of is how much people with less powerful phones are using the Web.
People using Opera Mini viewed more than 3.2 billion pages in June, up 9.4% over May, according to a report from Opera Software.
This browser can run on almost any phone Java-capable phone. "People want the Web on their phone regardless of the type of phone they have," said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera. "Our list of top phones shows both smartphones and feature phones, which is a testament to the versatility Opera Mini provides. Additionally, it proves that given the right experience, many more people will use the Web on their phone."
This browser has clearly made an impression on BlackBerry users. In the United States, nine of the top ten phones for Opera Mini are BlackBerries.
