Palm, Inc. has released a software patch for the recently-released Treo 800w that allows users to do voice dialing over a Bluetooth connection.
What Is It?
This smartphone comes with the short-range wireless networking standard Bluetooth 2.0, and can be used with various wireless headsets and car kits for hands-free calling.
The software patch just released will add a feature to this: 800w owners will be able to use a Bluetooth headset or car kit to initiate phone calls on the Treo 800w via the Voice Command voice dialing software.
How Do I Get It?
This software patch is available now on Palm's website. It is a free download.
It is only for Sprint's version of the Treo 800w, and should not be installed on any other device.
As it is a patch, and not a full ROM update, it will have to be reinstalled if the smartphone ever undergoes a hard reset.
