During the spring quarter, Motorola shipped 28.1 million handsets, and successfully maintained its market share.
Sales were $3.3 billion, down 22% compared to the year-ago quarter. The mobile device segment reported an operating loss of $346 million, compared to an operating loss of $332 million in the year-ago quarter.
The company continues to hold its place as the number three mobile phone maker in the world, behind Samsung and LG.

Motorola is continuing its plan to spin its mobile device segment off as an independent, publicly traded company.
