HTC's CEO was proud to announce this week that his company is close to shipping its millionth Touch Diamond, a smartphone that debuted less than three months ago.

This Windows Mobile device is almost certainly going to to break the company record for reaching the 1,000,000 milestone, despite not yet having officially debuted in the United States.
However, it's clearly selling well in Europe and Asia, and it expected to reach its latest milestone around the middle of this month.
Up Against the Competition
Although the Diamond is obviously doing well, it's up against some tough competition. Fans of Apple's iPhone will surely be quick to point out that it took HTC's device months to reach a milestone that the new iPhone 3G reached on its launch weekend.
The Next Milestone
The Diamond is apparently not stopping at the 1 million mark. HTC's Peter Chou reaffirmed this week an earlier promise that his company will sell over 2 million Diamond units before the end of this year.
