For the second time in recent days, a leaked photo has revealed an upcoming Windows Mobile phone by Motorola. Described as the "Atila," the newest device appears positioned as an iPhone competitor.

The device reportedly will feature quad-band GSM/EDGE along with tri-band UMTS/HSPA, making it ideally suited for use overseas or on AT&T and Rogers in North America. The device will not support T-Mobile USA's 3G rollout, only the carrier's existing 2.5G network.

Motorola AtilaAtila will supposedly run on a Qualcomm 7201A processor, speed unknown but likely in the 400 MHz range.

Its 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen will be its only means of input, lacking a hardware keyboard or numeric keypad. This is a big part of what separates it from the Motorola Alexander, a similar model that was recently leaked.

This device will reportedly be powered by an 1130 mAh battery, have Wi-Fi b/g, and run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.

The Atila is apparently Motorola's first foray into touchscreen-based Windows Mobile phones in nearly 5 years, as well as its first tri-band 3G device.

No information is currently available on when the Atila might be released, or whether any North American carriers will officially offer it.

Also unclear is whether the Atila will share the built-in GPS receiver and dedicated graphics chip that the non-touchscreen Alexander is reported to have.
