BlackBerry Bold Might Be Coming Sooner than Expected *UPDATED*

On of the biggest mysteries in the smartphone market right now is when the BlackBerry Bold's U.S. debut will be. The device is already coming out much later than originally expected, but no one -- outside of RIM and AT&T, of course -- knows when the actual release is going to be.

At this point, AT&T is the only carrier in the U.S. that has committed to the Bold, although it's expected to be eventually available from a wide variety of them.

Earlier this month, what was supposedly a product roadmap that leaked from AT&T indicated that this carrier isn't going to launch this BlackBerry smartphone until November.

More recently, however, a tipster revealed to BGR that the retailer Best Buy will begin offering AT&T's version of the Bold on October 26.

Normally, Best Buy doesn't get devices on launch day, so if this report is true it's a strong sign that this product will debut in early to mid October.

This report did not indicate how much this model will sell for.

Update

A second report from a different source at Best Buy gives the price for this smartphone without a two-year contract: $680.

More about the BlackBerry Bold

RIM unveiled the BlackBerry Bold early this summer. This smartphone will offer a number of firsts for this long-running product line.

In addition to being the first BlackBerry with the 3G standard HSDPA, it will have a higher-resolution screen than any previous RIM model, and much better support for working with Microsoft Office files.
