Adobe Has Flash Player for iPhone Almost Ready

Adobe has nearly completed work on a Flash player for the iPhone, but it is Apple's decision whether this app ever gets released.

Paul Betlem, a Sr. Director of Engineering at Adobe, confirmed that his company could have the player ready to go in short order, but because the iPhone is a closed system it would need Apple's participation. And Apple has resisted putting Flash on the iPhone in the past.

Earlier this year, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that this Web-based multimedia system wouldn't perform well on its smartphone or the iPod touch.

Devices without Flash aren't be able to easily view many web sites, as these depend on Flash for navigation. In addition, popular sites like Hulu, Fox on Demand, and NBC.com require a Flash player to view their videos.
