BlackBerry Bold Will Debut Early Next Month

AT&T has just announced the official release date for the BlackBerry Bold, a device which will offer a number of firsts for this long-running product line.

This smartphone, which was originally scheduled to debut in the U.S. this summer, has suffered repeated delays. Since then there have been many rumors about when this hotly-anticipated product will launch.

But the wait is almost over: according to a statement from AT&T, it will introduce the BlackBerry Bold on Tuesday, November 4.

It will sell for $300 with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate.

RIM unveiled the BlackBerry Bold early this summer. This smartphone will offer a number of firsts for this long-running product line.

In addition to being the first BlackBerry with the 3G standard HSDPA, it will have a higher-resolution screen than any previous RIM model, and much better support for working with Microsoft Office files.

Its creator is emphasizing the multimedia possibilities of its half-VGA (480 by 320 pixel) display.

Other features will include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 2 MPx camera, plus aGPS.

Although AT&T will apparently be the first U.S. mobile phone company to offer the Bold, it is expected to eventually be available around the world.
