Sprint Launching HTC Touch Pro Next Week

Sprint has just revealed the details on its plans to release the HTC Touch Pro, a high-end Windows Mobile smartphone with a sliding keyboard and EV-DO Rev. A.

Earlier this fall, Sprint committed to introducing this business-oriented device, and is now giving an updated launch date: October 26.

The Touch Pro will sell for $300 with a two-year qualifying wireless service plan and a $100 mail-in rebate.

More About the HTC Touch Pro

The HTC Touch Pro is very similar to the HTC Touch Diamond -- which Sprint released in September -- but adds a sliding keyboard.

It is loaded with high-end features, such as a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen, 528 MHz processor, and GPS.

Sprint's version will have Ev-DO Rev. A, the fastest version of this carrier's wireless network. It will also sport Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0.

The Touch Pro runs Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and has 288 MB of RAM and 512 MB of Flash ROM. A microSD/SDHC card slot will provide additional storage.

It will also have HTC's finger-friendly TouchFLO 3D user interface and a 3.2 MPx camera. 

This model's 1350 mAh battery is expected to last for 250 minutes of talk time.

Overall, it is 4.2 inches wide, 2.1 inches tall, and 0.70 inches thick. It weighs 5.3 ounces.

The New Mogul and Tilt?

Sprint hasn't explicitly stated this, but it's quite possible the HTC Touch Pro will replace the HTC Mogul in its product lineup, as both devices have similar designs and target markets.

AT&T is expected to introduce its version of this smartphone in the coming weeks, where it will likely replace the Tilt.
