Samsung C6620 Scores FCC Approval

A new Windows Mobile smartphone from Samsung has received its FCC approval, but there's reason to doubt whether it will be released in the U.S.

The Samsung C6620 uses a tablet shape, with a small keyboard just below its landscape-oriented display.

This model has just been launched by TIM in Italy, and there's reason to believe it my stay in Europe, despite its FCC approval. This is a tri-band phone (900/1800/1900 MHz), and lacks an important frequency used by GSM carriers in N. America: 850 MHz.

The C6620 runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, the edition of Microsoft's operating system for smartphones without touchscreens.

It has 3G support but not Bluetooth. It also includes a 2.0 MPx camera.

This device has a microSD card slot, and TIM is bundling a 1 GB card. This will likely be welcome, as the C6620 has a meer 20 MB of internal storage,

Overall, it is 113 mm  by 63 mm by 12 mm. It weighs 109 g.

TIM is charging €200 for the Samsung C6620.
