Nokia's N85 North American Edition Gains FCC Approval

One of Nokia's most recently announced smartphones, the N85 has quickly been one of its most anticipated models.  This smartphone with an OLED screen model has had its North American 3G variant tested and approved by the FCC.

The N85 is already a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM mobile, so the addition of full North American 3G compatibility (850/1900/2100 MHz) should delight users on AT&T, Rogers, and other GSM carriers. It doesn't, however, offer the unusual version of 3G offered by T-Mobile.

More about the N85

The Nokia N85 is the successor to the popular N95 model. This dual-slider smartphone features a 320-by-240-pixel display which uses an OLED screen, instead of the backlit LCD screens commonly found in mobiles.

Compared to the N95, the N85 features a newer operating system (Symbian S60 Feature Pack 2), larger battery (1100 mAh), a dual-LED equipped 5 megapixel camera, and the most recent versions of Nokia software such as Nokia Maps 2.0 and Mail for Exchange.

Pricing and Availability

The European variant of the Nokia N85 has already begun to be sold through online retailers for an estimated price of EUR 450 before taxes and subsidies. The North American variant is expected to have a similar price, though no date for sale has been given.
