Sprint introduced the HTC Touch Pro last week, but this high-end Windows Mobile smartphone had limited availability at launch. This has now changed.
The Touch Pro is now listed on Sprint's website, and it's also now in Sprint Stores.
It's base price is $580, but this drops to $300 with a two-year qualifying wireless service plan and a $100 mail-in rebate.
The HTC Touch Pro is very similar to the HTC Touch Diamond -- which Sprint released in September -- but adds a sliding keyboard.
It is loaded with high-end features, such as a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen, 528 MHz processor, and GPS.
Sprint's version will have Ev-DO Rev. A, the fastest version of this carrier's wireless network. It will also sport Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0.
The Touch Pro runs Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and has 288 MB of RAM and 512 MB of Flash ROM. A microSD/SDHC card slot will provide additional storage.
It will also have HTC's finger-friendly TouchFLO 3D user interface and a 3.2 MPx camera.
This model's 1350 mAh battery is expected to last for 250 minutes of talk time.
Overall, it is 4.2 inches wide, 2.1 inches tall, and 0.70 inches thick. It weighs 5.3 ounces.
Say Good-bye to the HTC Mogul
Sprint hasn't explicitly stated this, but it's clear that the HTC Touch Pro is replace the HTC Mogul in its product lineup. This carrier is still offering the Mogul, but it's no longer listed on its main product page.
Both the Touch Pro and Mogul have similar designs -- tablet shape with sliding keyboards -- and identical target markets, so it was virtually inevitable that the newer model would replace the older one.
Here, There, and Everywhere
The HTC Touch Pro is shaping up to be one of the most widely available smartphones around. In addition to Sprint's launch, it debuted in Europe over the summer.
There are also multiple reports that it's coming soon to AT&T, and Verizon is supposed to be prepping the CDMA version for release next month.
