The AT&T Fuze -- this carrier's version of the HTC Touch Pro -- has just been released. This high-end, business-oriented device comes loaded with features, including a VGA touchscreen and a sliding keyboard.
Rumors of this launch have been circulating for months, but the wait is over for those who have been waiting for this model, which is expected to be the replacement for the AT&T Tilt.
The AT&T Fuze is available now on AT&T's website. Its base price is $500, but that drops to $300 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate.
The Fuze runs Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with HTC's finger-friendly TouchFLO 3D user interface on top.
This smartphone sports a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen and a built-in sliding QWERTY keyboard. It also has a GPS receiver, a microSD/SDHC card slot, and 3.2 MPx camera.
In addition to being a quad-band GSM phone, the Fuze has tri-band HSDPA support, so it can be used to make phone calls or access the Internet at 3G speeds around the world.
In addition, this smartphone has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Fuze comes with Microsoft Office Mobile, a suite of applications for working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. It also includes the Opera Mobile web browser, and software for email, text messages, and scheduling. Windows Media Player Mobile allows users to play audio and video.
AT&T says its 1340 mAh battery will deliver either 7.4 hours of talk time or 19.3 days of stand-by time.
