HTC Touch Pro Coming to Verizon by Month's End

Verizon Wireless may soon be the third major wireless carrier in the U.S. to introduce the HTC Touch Pro.

This high-end, business-oriented smartphone -- which features a VGA touchscreen and a sliding keyboard -- will debut on this carrier's website on Nov. 24, if a document leaked to Engadget is correct. It will be available in Verizon stores on Dec. 1.

It will reportedly go by the name Verizon XV6850, and will sell for $350 with a two-year contract and $70 mail-in rebate.

This carrier will supposedly be charging a bit more for its version of the Touch Pro than its U.S. rivals. Both AT&T's version -- called the Fuze -- and Sprint's sell for $300 with contract and rebate.

The XV6850 will have a built-in sliding keyboard, and is expected to replace the XV6800 in this carrier's lineup.

It will run Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with HTC's finger-friendly TouchFLO 3D user interface on top.

In shape, the XV6850 will be a slider: a QWERTY keyboard will slide behind its 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen.

This smartphone will support Verizon's EV-DO network and allow tethering. It will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Additional features will include  GPS, a microSD/SDHC card slot, and a 1350 mAh battery.
