AT&T Launches Windows Mobile Smartphone from LG

The LG Incite, which just debuted on AT&T, has the distinction of being the first smartphone from LG released by a major U.S. wireless carrier. It runs the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Mobile, and includes a wQVGA touchscreen, 3G, and Wi-Fi.

One of the features that sets it apart from the pack is its 3-inch, 240-by-400-pixel touchscreen, which puts it between QVGA and VGA displays. So far, the only other device with this screen resolution is the Samsung Omnia.

The Incite doesn't have a physical keyboard or numberpad, but it does offer on-screen versions of both. These provide vibration feedback when touched.

It has both domestic and international calling and 3G capabilities, as well as built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0.

This smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. It has 128 MB of RAM, 256 MB ROM, and a microSD card slot for up to 32 GB of additional, removable storage.

Like all devices running this operating system, comes with a suite of productivity and entertainment software for everything from Push email and web browsing to watching video and editing Microsoft Office documents.

Other Incite features include aGPS and a 3.0 MPx camera.

Overall, this device is 4.2 inches tall, 2.2 inches wide, and 0.6 inches thick. It weighs 4.2 ounces. 

It has a 1300 mAh Lithium-ion battery battery, which AT&T says is good for up to 8.7 hours of talk time or 21 days of stand-by time.

Pricing and Availability

The LG Incite is available now in AT&T retail stores nationwide and online at wireless.att.com. It costs $200 with a new two-year agreement and mail-in rebate.

AT&T voice plans begin at $39.99 a month, personal data plans start at $30 per month, and enterprise data plans start at $45 a month.
