HTC Touch Pro, Touch Diamond Now Available from Alltel

The HTC Touch Pro has been joining the lineup of wireless carriers around the U.S. lately, and the latest of these is Alltel. This carrier -- the fifth largest in the U.S. in number of customers -- has also recently introduced the Touch Pro's sister model, the Touch Diamond.

These two smartphones have much in common. They run Windows Mobile 6.1, have VGA touchscreens, EV-DO Rev. A, Wi-Fi, GPS, and much more. The main difference is that the Touch Pro has a built-in sliding QWERTY keyboard, while the Touch Diamond does not.

More Features

Both these models have 2.8-inch displays, and run HTC's TouchFLO 3D, which allows users to do many common tasks by touching the screen with a fingertip, rather than the stylus.

They also have 3.2 MPx cameras and Bluetooth with Stereo headphone support.

Like all smartphones with Microsoft's operating system, these HTC models come bundled with the mobile versions of Microsoft Office with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Aside from the Pro's keyboard, there's another significant difference between these two: the Diamond has 4 GB of internal storage, while the Pro has a microSD card slot instead.

Pricing

The base price for Alltel's version of the HTC Touch Pro is $600, but with a two year contract and $100 mail-in rebate that drops to $280.

The HTC Touch Diamond starts at $540, but with two-year contract and mail-in rebate the cost is $250.
