There still has not been an official announcement from Verizon Wireless that it's going to offer a version of the Samsung Omnia, but there can be no room for doubt any more.
This morning, Samsung briefly had an image of this Windows Mobile smartphone with the Verizon logo on its website. This led to a broken link, and has since been removed, but it's evidence that's hard to refute.
This isn't the first strong indication that this carrier has its eye on the Omnia; this model was listed on a Verizon rebate form issued last month.
An Overview of the Samsung Omnia
The Omnia has a design that focuses on its relatively large, 240-by-400 pixel touchscreen. It's one of several smartphones that strongly invites comparison to the iPhone 3G.
It runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, but Samsung has added its TouchWiz user interface, which has been designed to make the device easier to use with a fingertip.
The European version of this device has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 5-megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, a TV-out port, a GPS receiver, an FM radio, and a 1440 mAh battery.
It's not clear if Verizon's version will have the exact same feature set, but the images and description that briefly appeared on Samsung's site (shown here) included TouchWiz and mentioned the 5-MPx camera.
