Taking advantage of the Wi-Fi and new microphone available in the second-generation iPod touch, a version of the free Truphone VoIP client has been released for this traditional handheld.
This Internet phone application allows free calling to other Truphone users, free IM and calling to MSN and Skype contacts, and Twitter and Facebook integration.
The iPod touch version differs from the iPhone one in user interface and SIP support. This new application's SIP support allows Truphone customers to talk to Google Talk users, and opens the door to support other VoIP platforms.
Truphone for the iPod touch is a free application available from the iTunes App Store.
Not Just Apple
There are also versions of this VoIP application for Symbian S60, BlackBerry, and Windows Mobile.
To download Truphone for these devices, and to read about VoIP plans which include landline calling options, visit the Truphone website.
