Google Maps for mobile 2.3 has been released for Windows Mobile and Symbian S60. The primary new feature in this free navigation software is support for Street View.
Google's Street View is the ability to see a 360 degree view of a point that was searched using Google Maps. After completing a search for a restaurant, business, or other location, users can choose Street View from the menu and see either a thumbnail or a full-screen image of the surrounding environment.
Street View was previously released on Google Maps for Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone.
Other Changes
More has also made other improvements in Google Maps for mobile 2.3. The user interface has been updated to make this software more responsive and easier to use.
Users can now request walking directions, in addition to driving and public transit directions. Speaking of public transit, this application has gained the ability to display transit alerts from participating public transportation authorities. In addition, this version of Google Maps allows users to read restaurant reviews directly on their phone.
