The software retailer Handango Inc. has made a deal to bring applications for a wide variety of smartphones to Best Buy's retail stores nationwide.
Through the partnership, Handango will offer Best Buy Mobile customers a catalog of apps ranging from business and productivity to entertainment and games for Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Palm, and Symbian S60 smartphones.
The apps will be purchased for specific devices at the point of sale using Best Buy's in-store digital Mobile Genie system.
Handango's In-Hand client, custom branded for Best Buy, will be added to each device so customers can continue to purchase apps directly on their smartphone even after they leave the store.
Apps On Cards, Too
In addition, select Best Buy outlets will offer their customers a selection of Mobile App Packs featuring three popular game titles for Windows Mobile, Blackberry and Palm OS devices.
Games will be pre-loaded onto microSD cards, eliminating the need for over-the-air or desktop downloads.
