Sling Media will open a public beta of SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry at the end of this month.
This application will allow owners of BlackBerry-based devices to watch everything they could on their home TV... but on their smartphone. With a SlingBox, users can have live TV programs streamed to their mobile device. They can also control a home digital video recorder (DVR), DVD player, video tape player, and more.
SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry will be available for download as part of a public beta beginning Dec. 30. It will be free during the beta period.
This application will be available for Slingbox customers in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. at launch, and will only be officially supported on devices with either 3G or Wi-Fi.

The BlackBerry version will join the versions of this software for iPhone, Palm OS, Symbian S60, and Windows Mobile which are either already available or in development.
