There still hasn't been an official announcement, but the details of Wal-Mart's plan to start offering the iPhone have leaked out.
On Dec. 28, this retail giant will begin selling Apple's smartphone. Despite what earlier rumors and speculation said, it will carry the same versions available from AT&T and Apple. The prices will be just a couple of dollars below the standard ones: the 8 GB version for $200 and the 16 GB one for $300.

However, one of the Wal-Mart employees questioned said that this store will sell the same versions available from AT&T and Apple, and at the same prices: the 8 GB version for $200 and the 16 GB one for $300.
Apparently, even Wal-Mart wasn't able to push Apple/AT&T into lowering its prices. Not everyone has been able to resist; the T-Mobile G1 costs $180 when bought directly from this wireless carrier, but it sells for $150 at Wal-Mart.
More about the iPhone 3G
The iPhone 3G is Apple's second-generation smartphone, and the "3G" in its name refers to its support for 3G cellular-wireless networking.
This model has an HVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
It has the ability to run native third-party applications that have been approved by Apple. In addition, it is able to connect to Microsoft Exchange for corporate email service.
