Nokia's Mail on Ovi Goes Live Globally

As part of Nokia's transformation into a services-oriented company, its Ovi portal has had several important features in beta for sometime. One of those areas, Mail on Ovi, has now been made global for users of Nokia's Symbian S40 mobiles.

What is Mail on Ovi?

Mail on Ovi is a combined email and instant messaging service that is focused to the groups of users whose first interactions with the Internet and email come over a mobile device, rather than a laptop or desktop PC.

It integrates a mobile application, web-based interface, and Nokia's Ovi account to create a mobile messaging service that is tied to the mobile needs of the user.

Availability

Mail on Ovi is a free service and is compatible with Symbian S40 devices such as the recently released Nokia 6600 Slide, the Nokia 7210 Supernova, and Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.

It is not known at this time if Nokia's S60 devices (N82, N85, etc.) will be supported with Mail on Ovi. Though, there is the Nokia Email service which acts similarly, and is currently available in beta.

During this initial rollout of Mail on Ovi, the service is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Bengali, Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia, and Bahasa Malaysia.
