AT&T may be just around the corner from its promise to allow its customers to use an iPhone as a modem for their laptop.
Several months ago, AT&T Mobility's CEO said that his company is going accede to customer wishes and allow them to use their iPhone as an external modem, a process that's called tethering.
This service could kick off at this week's MacWorld Expo, if a report from TUAW.com is correct.
Tethering service will reportedly cost an additional $30 a month, and be capped at 5 GB of data transfers.
There are third-party applications that allow this, such as PdaNet from June Fabrics, but Apple blocks these from the iPhone App Store, so to install then users have to jailbreak their device.
